153 West Washington Street

153 West Washington Street, located in the heart of downtown Marquette at the corner of Washington and Third Streets, was originally built in 1937 using elements of art deco design popular at the time. It originally housed A & P Grocery store until the mid 1950’s when it became a hardware store and served as such until the early 1980’s. Throughout the 1980’s and 90’s the building served a variety of retail and office tenants. The building was purchased by Veridea Group in late 2001 and under went a complete exterior and interior renovation in early 2002 that restored it to its art deco origins.

In 2004, the Marquette Downtown Development Authority recognized our efforts by awarding us with the “Façade Improvement Award”. Today the building hosts a number of thriving retail businesses including Hotplate, Richardson Jewelers, Kennecott Eagle Minerals and Snap Fitness.
